The Destroyer
A mechanical leviathan of segmented steel that births its own relentless hunters
The Destroyer is a Hardmode mechanical boss that is essentially a more difficult version of the Eater of Worlds . Its segments share a single health pool, meaning individual segments cannot die. Each of The Destroyer's segments fires lasers at the player, and as they take damage, they launch Probes , independent flying enemies that fire lasers and can be killed individually. While The Destroyer is alive, its exclusive music The Destroyer will play. When Otherworldly music is enabled, the track Boss 2 (Otherworldly) will play instead. - Item (Quantity) Rate - Soul of Might (25–40) 100% - Hallowed Bar (15–30) 100% - Greater Healing Potion (5–15) 100% - Destroyer Mask 14.29% - Destroyer Trophy 10% - Treasure Bag (The Destroyer) 100% - Mechanical Wagon Piece 100% - Destroyer Mask 14.29% - Soul of Might (25–40) 100% - Hallowed Bar (20–35) 100% - Coins ( 30 GC ) 100% - Deactivated Probe 25% - Destroyer Relic 100% - Death Laser - Internal Projectile ID : 100 - 1 Summoning and spawning - 2 Segments - 3 Behavior - 4 Notes - 5 Achievements - 6 Tips - 7 Trivia - 8 History - 9 References

Lore & Background
From the scorched depths of a Hardmode world rises The Destroyer, a nightmare forged from the same dark metal as the Eater of Worlds but twisted by an alien malice. It is not merely a beast of flesh and bone, but a coiled serpent of gears and pistons that drags its massive form through the earth, leaving craters in its wake. This mechanical horror does not seek to consume; it seeks to obliterate, firing crimson death lasers from every joint while its very body spawns independent Probes to harry the unwary. These small, flying sentinels are born from the boss's agony, detaching to strike with pink beams of their own, ensuring that even as the titan falls, its children continue the assault.
The arrival of this leviathan is heralded by a tremor that shakes the very foundations of the surface world. When the sun dips below the horizon and the Mechanical Worm is cast into the night, the earth seems to reject the intrusion, or perhaps welcome it with open jaws. It is a creature of pure industry and destruction, immune to the curses and poisons that plague lesser foes, standing as an unyielding barrier between humanity and the Hallowed light. Only by dismantling its segmented form and harvesting its souls of might can one hope to forge the bars needed to ascend against such overwhelming industrial might.
In this eternal conflict, The Destroyer represents the relentless march of technology turned against nature. Its body is a testament to the world's corruption, stretching nearly two hundred forty tiles in length, a river of steel that knows no rest until dawn breaks or its foes are erased. The red lights on its segments flicker like dying stars before vanishing as Probes detach, each one a reminder that the boss's pain only multiplies the threat. To face it is to stare into the abyss of a world remade by machines.
In Their Own Story
You stand atop your wooden platform, the wind howling through the night air, when the ground beneath your boots begins to tremble with a rhythmic, mechanical thrumming. It starts as a distant vibration, then grows into a roar that shakes the stars from the sky. From the darkness below, a pair of glowing red eyes pierces the gloom, followed by the screech of grinding metal. The Destroyer erupts from the earth, a colossal serpent of steel and gears uncoiling with terrifying speed.
The beast immediately turns its gaze upon you, its segmented body undulating as it launches itself into the air. Crimson lasers streak through the night, carving lines in the dirt where you stood mere moments before. As your weapon strikes its armored flank, a red light on one of the segments sputters and dies, only for a small, winged Probe to detach with a sharp hiss. It hovers in the air, locking onto you with unblinking optics, firing a pink laser that grazes your shoulder.
You leap upward, using gravitation magic to hover above the grinding mass of metal, but the Destroyer follows relentlessly, its body weaving through the terrain as if it were water. More Probes detach from the writhing horror, filling the sky with a swarm of deadly eyes. The air fills with the sound of clanking steel and the whistle of lasers, a chaotic symphony of war that will only end when the sun rises or you fall to the machine's fury.
Reader's Guide
Summon The Destroyer by using a Mechanical Worm at night between 7:30 PM and 4:30 AM. Alternatively, it may spawn naturally once a Demon Altar is destroyed if one of the other mechanical bosses has not been defeated, signaled by the message "You feel vibrations from deep below...". Ensure you have an arena ready before dusk, as the boss despawns at dawn.
Construct long horizontal platforms to allow The Destroyer to burrow through them while maintaining your own mobility. Use a Gravitation Potion to hover above its segments, avoiding contact damage which is lethal due to its high knockback resistance. Weapons that pierce or hit multiple targets are essential; line up the head and fire down the body to maximize damage per second.
Prioritize killing Probes immediately upon their release. They deal significant damage and can overwhelm you if ignored, though they also drop hearts when defeated. Avoid using debuff-dependent weapons like Golden Shower in Expert Mode, as The Destroyer is immune to all status effects except whip debuffs. If the fight drags on, use Magic Mirrors or teleporters to reset your position, but beware that the boss moves freely off-screen and will track you indefinitely until dawn.
