Eater of Worlds
A coiled nightmare of segmented flesh that devours worlds from within
The Eater of Worlds is a pre-Hardmode Corruption -themed worm boss . It is not a single target, but a string of segments with individual health. It has a total of 67 / 72 segments. When any inner body segment is destroyed, it splits into multiple smaller worms, each with their own head and tail. Each section of the Eater of Worlds must be killed in order to defeat the entire boss. The Eater of Worlds, like all worms, is immune to lava . Fighting the Eater of Worlds is the only way to obtain Shadow Scales , and it is one of the only ways to obtain usable quantities of Demonite Ore . Individual segments drop some of these when killed, with a larger amount of them being dropped upon defeating the entire boss. The Eater of Worlds is the Corruption counterpart to the Crimson 's Brain of Cthulhu . The Hardmode mechanical boss equivalent to the Eater of Worlds is The Destroyer . While the Eater of Worlds is alive, its exclusive music Eater of Worlds will play. When Otherworldly music is enabled, the track Boss 1 (Otherworldly) will play instead. - Item (Quantity) Rate - Shadow Scale (0–134) 100% - Demonite Ore (20–395) 100% - Eater's Bone 5% - Lesser Healing Potion (5–15) 100% - Eater of Worlds Mask 14.29% - Eater of Worlds Trophy 10% - Treasure Bag (Eater of Worlds) 100% - Worm Scarf 100% - Eater of Worlds Mask 14.29% - Demonite Ore ( 80–110 110–135 ) 100% - Shadow Scale ( 20–40 30–50 ) 100% - Eater's Bone 5% - Coins ( 20 SC ) 100% - Writhing Remains 25% - Eater of Worlds Relic 100% - When Dungeon is not present , one of the following combinations will be dropped - Blue Brick (500-600) 33% - All of the following three items will drop with Blue Brick - Cursed Blue Tiled Wall (400-500) - Cursed Blue Slab Wall (400-500) - Cursed Blue Brick Wall (400-500) - Green Brick (500-600)

Lore & Background
Deep beneath the scarred earth of the Corruption lies a living abyss known as the Eater of Worlds. It is not a singular beast but a legion of writhing segments, each bearing its own head and tail, bound together by an ancient, malevolent will. When the shadow orbs that guard these depths are shattered in threes, the slumbering horror awakens, uncoiling from the soil to hunt those who dared disturb its rest. This primordial worm feeds on the very essence of the world, leaving behind only piles of Demonite Ore and the chilling scales of Shadow as testament to its passage.
To the inhabitants of Terraria, this entity represents a rite of passage, a brutal threshold between the safety of the surface and the chaos of the underworld. It is the Corruption's answer to the Crimson's frenzied Brain, a mechanical precursor to the great Destroyer that will one day rise in Hardmode. Its presence signals the arrival of meteorites from the heavens and the awakening of the Tavernkeep, marking a shift in the world's destiny. Those who survive its maw are granted the Worm Scarf, a relic of evasion born from the beast's own biology, allowing them to dance through danger with supernatural grace.
In Their Own Story
The air grew thick with the scent of rot as you struck the third Shadow Orb. A deep tremor shook the cavern floor, and the darkness seemed to breathe. From the fissures in the rock, a massive coil emerged, its segments gleaming with oily purple scales. The Eater of Worlds had awakened.
It did not rush immediately; it unraveled slowly, a serpentine nightmare stretching across your makeshift arena. You stood your ground, sword drawn, as the great head loomed closer, its maw dripping with acidic saliva. Suddenly, the beast lunged, carving through the earth in a blur of motion. As you slashed at a body segment, it shattered into dust, but the horror did not end. The remaining pieces split apart, forming two smaller, frantic worms that darted toward you from opposite directions.
Vile spit hissed past your ear, sizzling where it struck the stone. You realized then that killing one part was only feeding the chaos. With a desperate leap, you turned to face the retreating head, its speed faltering as its life drained away. The ground stilled once more, leaving behind only the glint of ore and the heavy silence of a world that had survived another night.
Reader's Guide
Summon the Eater of Worlds by destroying every third Shadow Orb in the Corruption or use Worm Food within the biome at any time. Prepare an arena with long horizontal platforms to maximize movement space, as the boss cannot be lured out of the Corruption.
Equip piercing weapons like the Vilethorn or Spiky Balls to damage multiple segments simultaneously, especially during its initial coiled state. Melee users should utilize fast weapons such as the Falcon Blade, while ranged fighters can rely on bows with Unholy Arrows. In Expert Mode, dodge the Vile Spit projectiles which can be destroyed in a single hit.
Focus your attacks on the head to drastically reduce its speed, or target body segments to split the boss into smaller, manageable worms. Remember that lava is ineffective as the boss is immune. If the boss splits, prioritize eliminating the new heads before they burrow underground. Defeating it fully unlocks meteorite landings and the Tavernkeep.
