Duke Fishron
The ocean's forgotten ruler rises to claim a throne of blood and storm
I once met with a Duke on the beach. He looked kinda fishy, and lacked good manners! — The Princess Duke Fishron is a Hardmode boss . While he can be summoned as soon as Hardmode is initiated, his difficulty is on par with that of a post-Golem boss, making him a serious threat to unprepared players. Fighting Duke Fishron is not required for game progression , but his defeat rewards the player with powerful weapons and equipment. While Duke Fishron is alive, his exclusive music Duke Fishron will play. When Otherworldly music is enabled, the track Boss 2 (Otherworldly) will play instead. - Sharknado - Sharknado Bolt - Internal NPC ID : 370 - Internal Buff ID : 30 , 148 - Internal Projectile ID : 384 , 385 - Item (Quantity) Rate - One of the following 6 items will always be dropped - Bubble Gun 16.67% - Flairon 16.67% - Razorblade Typhoon 16.67% - Tempest Staff 16.67% - Tsunami 16.67% - Electric Eel 16.67% - Fishron Wings 6.67% - Greater Healing Potion (5–15) 100% - Duke Fishron Mask 14.29% - Duke Fishron Trophy 10% - Treasure Bag (Duke Fishron) 100% - Shrimpy Truffle 100% - Duke Fishron Mask 14.29% - One of the following 6 items will always be dropped - Bubble Gun 16.67% - Flairon 16.67% - Razorblade Typhoon 16.67% - Tempest Staff 16.67% - Tsunami 16.67% - Electric Eel 16.67% - Fishron Wings 10% - Coins ( 62 GC 50 SC ) 100% - Pork of the Sea 25% - Duke Fishron Relic 100% - Cthulunado - Sharknado Bolt - Internal NPC ID : 370 - Internal Buff ID : 30 , 148 - Internal Projectile ID : 386 , 385 - 1 Summoning - 2 Behavior 2.1 First phase - 2.2 Second phase - 2.3 Third phase - 2.4 Enraged state - 2.5 Debuffs - 2.6 Despawning - 3 Notes - 4 Achievements - 5 Tips - 6 Trivia - 7 History - 8 References

Lore & Background
Long before the first hardmode sun rose, the oceans whispered of a tyrant who ruled not by right of birth, but by the sheer ferocity of his might. Duke Fishron is no mere beast; he is an aberration of nature, a creature that defies the natural order with the grace of a shark and the cunning of a sorcerer. The Princess once spoke of him casually, unaware that her words described a calamity capable of leveling coastal fortresses. He waits in the deep, patient as the tide, for the day when the Truffle Worm is cast into his domain to summon his wrath.
His very presence warps the fabric of reality around him. When he emerges, the sky darkens and the wind howls with unnatural intensity, signaling that the balance of the world has been tipped by a force older than the Golem's stone heart. His attacks are not random; they are calculated strikes of a commander who knows the weakness of every defender. From the swirling Sharknados to the invisible charges of his third phase, he is a master of chaos, turning the battlefield into a storm of bubbles and tornados that leave nothing but ruin in their wake.
To defeat him is not required for the world's survival, yet those who claim victory earn weapons forged from the very essence of his power. The Bubble Gun, the Flairon, the Tempest Staff—each is a testament to a battle where humanity stood against the abyss and did not blink. He remains a legend of the Hardmode era, a boss whose difficulty rivals the endgame, proving that even in a world of magic and monsters, some threats demand the utmost respect.
In Their Own Story
The salt spray stung your eyes as you cast the line into the churning grey waters. The bobber dipped once, twice, then vanished with a violent jerk. You reeled it in, expecting nothing more than a common fish, but the water erupted. Duke Fishron breached the surface, his fins slicing the air like jagged blades before he hovered, eyes glowing with a malevolent yellow light.
The first lunge was a blur of motion; you barely sidestepped as he tore through the rock beneath your feet. Then came the bubbles, popping in mid-air to unleash Wet debuffs that slowed your reflexes. You fired back, but the Sharknado bolts descended like divine judgment, spawning tornados that rained down shark-like minions with relentless precision. As his health waned, his skin darkened, and he transformed into a shadow of green fury. The background faded into a blue fog as he vanished from sight, only to reappear for a teleporting charge that shattered your defenses.
You scrambled across the arena, dodging the Cthulunado's crushing grip, knowing that one mistake meant certain death. His invisible form darted around you, charges coming in rhythmic patterns of one, two, then three. With every dodge, you felt the weight of his rage, a force that demanded perfection. Finally, as he teleported for the last time, your weapon found its mark. The fog cleared, and the tyrant fell, leaving behind only the echo of his music and the promise of power in the spoils.
Reader's Guide
Summon Duke Fishron by fishing in any Ocean biome using a Truffle Worm as bait. Ensure you have ample space; the fight requires vertical and horizontal freedom to dodge complex patterns. Build an arena with multiple layers of platforms spaced roughly 10-15 tiles apart, extending far above and below the ocean surface to accommodate his Sharknados and Cthulunado attacks. Avoid fighting in enclosed spaces where bubbles can trap you.
For melee classes, use high-mobility armor like Turtle or Chlorophyte with accessories boosting speed and defense. Ranged users should prioritize mobility over raw damage, using weapons that can hit while moving. Mages benefit from high mana regeneration and area-of-effect spells to handle the Sharkrons. Summoners must manage minions carefully as Duke Fishron's invulnerability phases interrupt attacks.
In Phase 1 (above 50% health), dodge his five lunges by moving perpendicular to his path. Watch for Detonating Bubbles; they can be destroyed but explode with a larger hitbox. For the Sharknado attack, move vertically to avoid the bolts that spawn tornadoes. In Phase 2 (below 50%), he moves faster and uses fewer lunges. The Cthulunado will target your position directly; stay mobile and do not linger in one spot. In Phase 3 (below 15%), he becomes invisible and teleports before charging. Memorize the pattern: charge once, teleport; charge twice, teleport opposite; charge three times, reset. Maintain distance to avoid his contact damage while focusing fire during his brief visibility.
