Empress of Light
A radiant sovereign of the Hallow who demands perfection under the sun.
The Empress of Light is a Hardmode , post- Plantera boss . She is generally fought at night , and becomes " enraged " with greatly increased damage during the day. While she can be fought as soon as Plantera is defeated, she is significantly more difficult than most Hardmode bosses and will typically require post- Golem gear. The Empress of Light fight is optional and is not required for game progression, but her weapons can be greatly beneficial to players, provided they are skilled enough to take her on. While the Empress of Light is alive, her exclusive music Empress of Light will play. When Otherworldly music is enabled, the track Boss 2 (Otherworldly) will play instead. - Death Aurora (Spawning light effect) - Prismatic Bolt - Sun Dance - Everlasting Rainbow - Ethereal Lance - Internal NPC ID : 636 - Internal Projectile ID : 874 , 873 , 923 , 872 , 919 - Item (Quantity) Rate - One of the following 4 items will always be dropped - Nightglow 25% - Starlight 25% - Kaleidoscope 25% - Eventide 25% - Empress Wings 6.67% - Prismatic Dye (3) 25% - Stellar Tune 2% - Rainbow Cursor 5% - Terraprisma (if 100% of damage is dealt at daytime) 100% - Greater Healing Potion (5–15) 100% - Empress of Light Mask 14.29% - Empress of Light Trophy 10% - Treasure Bag (Empress of Light) 100% - One of the following 4 items will always be dropped - Nightglow 25% - Starlight 25% - Kaleidoscope 25% - Eventide 25% - Soaring Insignia 100% - Empress of Light Mask 14.29% - Empress Wings 10% - Stellar Tune 5% - Rainbow Cursor 5% - Prismatic Dye (3) 25% - Coins ( 62 GC 50 SC ) 100% - Jewel of Light 25% - Empress of Light Relic 100% - Prismatic Bolt - Sun Dance - Everlasting Rainbow - Ethereal Lance - Internal NPC ID : 636 - Internal Projectile ID : 873 , 923 , 872 , 919 - 1 Summoning - 2 Behavior 2

Lore & Background
In the deepest twilight of the Hallow, a creature of pure luminescence stirs from its slumber among the prismatic lacewings. The Empress of Light is not merely a beast but a celestial judgment, a guardian of the world's most vibrant secrets who tolerates no shadow. She dwells in the delicate balance between dusk and dawn, her existence tied to the rare insects she commands. When summoned, she brings with her a symphony of light that drowns out all other sounds, a melody known only to those brave enough to challenge her grace.
Her true nature reveals itself only when the sun breaches the horizon. By night, she is a dance of colors, a test of skill and agility. But by day, she becomes an unstoppable force of incinerating brilliance, her attacks turning from rainbow hues to a blinding, lethal yellow. This enrage state is not anger in the mortal sense, but a fundamental shift in her cosmic purpose; to burn away impurity with absolute certainty. Legend whispers that only those who can withstand her daylight fury without striking a single blow during the night may claim her ultimate prize, the Terraprisma, a weapon forged from the very essence of light itself.
In Their Own Story
You stand alone in the crystalline Hallow as the sun begins its slow ascent, painting the sky in hues of violet and gold. The air hums with static electricity, and there she is: the Empress of Light, hovering above you like a living constellation. Her wings shimmer with every color of the spectrum, casting prismatic reflections across the grass. You hold your breath, knowing that one misstep means instant death in this golden hour.
She moves first, a blur of motion as Prismatic Bolts scream toward your position. You weave through them, your heart hammering against your ribs. The interval between her assaults shortens as she descends into her second phase, tendrils of light unfurling from her back like a crown of stars. She darts forward, leaving trails of ethereal fire in her wake. You parry with your blade, striking true but never taking damage to yourself. As the sun climbs higher, her form shifts, glowing an intense, angry yellow. The world seems to hold its breath. With a final, desperate dodge, you land the killing blow just as noon strikes. She dissolves into motes of light, leaving behind only the promise that perfection was yours.
Reader's Guide
Summon the Empress of Light by using a Bug Net to catch a Prismatic Lacewing in The Hallow between dusk and midnight after defeating Plantera. Release the insect nearby to trigger the fight immediately, or bring it to a prepared arena.
Prepare an expansive arena with multiple tiers of platforms to accommodate her rapid vertical movements and dash attacks. Remove background walls to prevent obstruction during her teleportation phases. Equip end-game armor such as Solar, Vortex, Nebula, or Stardust sets depending on your class, paired with wings that offer superior mobility like the Fishron Wings or Celestial Starboard.
The battle follows a strict attack pattern: Prismatic Bolts, Dashes, Sun Dance, Everlasting Rainbow, and Ethereal Lance. In phase one, the intervals are manageable; in phase two below 50% health, the tempo increases significantly with higher damage. Focus on constant movement to evade her dashing attacks which ignore dodge effects. If you seek the Terraprisma, ensure all damage is dealt during daylight hours, but be warned that her enraged state deals one-hit kill damage to players under normal conditions.
