The Present Mimic possesses a cunning nature unique to its kind among Mimics. As you drew within striking distance, the silence shattered. The present did not merely open; it sprang to life with a guttural snarl, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth that gleamed in the moonlight. It lunged with terrifying speed, its momentum carrying it straight toward your chest. You barely managed to sidestep the initial bite, feeling the wind of its pass as it skidded across the ice.

It did not retreat. The creature turned instantly, eyes locked onto yours, and charged again, relentless and furious. Reader's Guide

Appearing exclusively during the Hardmode Frost Moon event after Plantera's defeat, the Present Mimic is a rare spawn that can occur in any wave. Unlike standard enemies tied to specific wave numbers, it may replace other foes provided fewer than four are currently present on screen. It behaves like a traditional Mimic, remaining perfectly still and disguised as a wrapped gift until the player approaches or attacks.

This enemy poses a significant threat with damage ranging from 100 to 225 depending on difficulty, boasting high defense (32) and exceptional knockback resistance (up to 80%). It will chase the player relentlessly once aggroed and does not flee when night ends. To defeat it effectively, maintain distance or use area-of-effect weapons to avoid its melee bite. Be mindful of Heartreach Potions during fights; their extended pickup range may cause you to absorb the Hearts it drops prematurely if healing is not yet required.

Victory yields 20 to 50 coins and a guaranteed drop of 5–10 Hearts, making it a vital source of sustenance during later waves. On Desktop, Console, and Mobile versions, defeating one also guarantees a Present drop, but only if the event reaches wave 15 and daytime begins, satisfying the Christmas conditions.
