Mothron

A colossal moth born of eclipses, weaving death and egg-laden shadows.

Mothron is a rare, powerful, Hardmode , post- Plantera , flying enemy that spawns during the Solar Eclipse event . Mothron can pass through all blocks and attacks by chasing after the player or aligning itself horizontally with them before lunging towards them at varying speeds, inflicting heavy contact damage depending on its velocity. Occasionally, it lands on blocks to lay several Mothron Eggs that spawn Baby Mothrons if they are not destroyed in time, much like Lepus (3DS version) . It is one of the few entities that can be detected by the Lifeform Analyzer or its upgrades. Mothron requires 25 kills to be awarded completion of its Bestiary entry and corresponding banner , as opposed to the usual 50 kills. - Item (Quantity) Rate - Wings of Evil 6.67% - Mothron Wings 5% 9.75% - The Eye of Cthulhu 33.33% 55.56% - Broken Hero Sword 25% 43.75% - Internal NPC ID : 477 - Internal NPC ID : 478 - Internal NPC ID : 479 - 1 Notes - 2 Tips - 3 Trivia 3.1 Bestiary entries - 4 History - 5 References

Lore & Background

Legend whispers that within its chitinous belly lies the Broken Hero Sword, a relic of forgotten battles consumed and regurgitated by this sky-bound terror. To face Mothron is to stand against the tide of night itself, for it is one of the few beings that can be sensed by the Lifeform Analyzer, a testament to its overwhelming presence in the corrupted air.

In Their Own Story

You focused on the mother, ignoring the hatchlings as they hatched into chaos around your feet. The Crystal Serpent roared in your hands, its lightning chains striking true against the immobilized giant. As the Eclipse waned and the sun began to reclaim the sky, Mothron let out a final, silent shriek before floating upward, vanishing into the light, leaving only the broken sword and the memory of wings.

Reader's Guide

Fight in a large, flat arena with vertical mobility options like Wings or the Gelatinous Pillion to dodge charges. Ranged weapons like the Piranha Gun or Crystal Serpent are ideal for exploiting its stationary egg-laying phase. Melee users should wield the Death Sickle to maintain damage while kiting. Defeating it yields the Broken Hero Sword, Mothron Wings, The Eye of Cthulhu, and Wings of Evil.
