Lore & Background
Deep within the pulsating veins of the Underground Crimson, where the very stone seems to bleed, dwell the Ichor Stickers. These squid-like abominations are not merely creatures of flesh, but vessels filled to the brim with a potent, glowing bio-fluid known as ichor. Unlike their terrestrial kin that scuttle or burrow, these entities hover silently in the stagnant air, their gelatinous forms undulating with a menacing grace. They serve as the Crimson's aerial guardians, tasked with defending the biome's darkest secrets from intruders by raining down streams of their own corrosive essence upon any who dare to tread too close.
The ichor they spew is no ordinary toxin; it is a magical degradation that strips away the defensive barriers of armor and resolve alike. When struck by their golden streams, even the most stalwart adventurers find their protection crumbling, leaving them vulnerable to the crushing weight of the world around them. To the old-world scholars of Terraria, these creatures represent a unique paradox: they are the only ranged threats within the Crimson's subterranean expanse, yet they possess the highest vitality among all non-boss entities in this hellscape. Their existence is a testament to the biome's capacity for adaptation, evolving from simple flesh into floating fortresses of biological warfare.
Legends whisper that these creatures are born from the very corruption itself, their bodies shaped by the same dark magic that fuels the Crimson's spread. They do not jump or fly in the traditional sense but rather float with an eerie stillness, waiting for the perfect moment to unleash their golden shower. In the silence of the underground, the sound of ichor hissing against stone is often the only warning before a traveler finds themselves defenseless, stripped of their defenses by the very fluid that defines this nightmarish realm.
In Their Own Story
The air in the Underground Crimson hangs heavy, thick with the scent of copper and decay. You descend deeper, your torchlight flickering against walls that seem to pulse with a faint, rhythmic heartbeat. Suddenly, a soft glow illuminates the darkness above—a floating silhouette, gelatinous and translucent, drifting silently like an underwater predator in a sea of stone. It is an Ichor Sticker.
Before you can retreat, it opens its maw, unleashing a continuous stream of golden fluid that arcs through the cavern. The liquid strikes your armor with a sizzling hiss, instantly draining your defenses as if the very metal were turning to dust. Panic flares as you realize your shield is broken; the Sticker hovers closer, unbothered by your frantic movements, its form bobbing just above the ground. You swing your weapon, but it floats effortlessly over a shallow pit that would have trapped any other foe.
With a desperate lunge, you aim for the creature's core, the golden stream now a constant threat to your life. One final blow lands, and the Sticker bursts apart, dissolving into a pool of glowing ichor on the cavern floor. As the glow fades, the danger passes, but the feeling of vulnerability remains etched in your mind—a reminder that even here, beneath the earth, the Crimson has eyes that watch and fluids that never cease to burn.
Reader's Guide
The Ichor Sticker is a Hardmode flying enemy found exclusively within the Underground Crimson. It utilizes a Hovering AI, floating just above the ground rather than jumping, which makes it vulnerable to simple terrain manipulation. Digging a pit at least four tiles deep will effectively immobilize the creature, preventing it from closing the distance while it continues its ranged assault.
Its primary attack involves spitting a stream of Ichor similar to the Golden Shower weapon. This projectile inflicts the Ichor debuff for 15 seconds on most versions (up to 37.5 seconds in some), drastically reducing your defense by 15 points, making you highly susceptible to other enemies. Despite its floating nature, it has a high maximum life and significant knockback resistance for a non-boss enemy.
To defeat it efficiently, use ranged or magic weapons from the start of Hardmode. If trapped in a hole, lava is an effective countermeasure since the Sticker cannot jump out. Upon death, it guarantees a drop of 2 to 5 Ichor (3 to 6 on older versions), a vital crafting material for Golden Shower and other late-game items. It has a rare chance to drop Monster Meat or the Eater Of Life pet summon.
