Ice Golem
A frozen colossus awakens in the heart of the blizzard
The Ice Golem is a rare Hardmode enemy that spawns in the Snow biome during Blizzards . The Ice Golem walks slowly, and, when it has a clear line of sight with the player, fires high-velocity Frost Beam projectiles that chill and occasionally freeze them in place. Its movement speed and the rate at which it fires beams increase exponentially the further its health is depleted. It has a guaranteed chance to drop a Frost Core , the main ingredient for the Frost armor , Cool Whip , and Blizzard in a Bottle . It is one of the few entities that can be detected by the Lifeform Analyzer or its upgrades. The Ice Golem requires 25 kills to be awarded completion of its Bestiary entry and corresponding banner , as opposed to the usual 50 kills. - Item (Quantity) Rate - Ice Feather 33.3% - Frost Core 100% - Frost Beam - Internal NPC ID : 243 - Internal Buff ID : 46 , 47 - Internal Projectile ID : 257 - 1 Notes - 2 Tips - 3 Trivia - 4 History - 5 References

Lore & Background
In the deepest recesses of the Hardmode Snow biome, where sub-zero temperatures bite through armor and snowflakes blind the eye, a singular construct stirs. The Ice Golem is not born of flesh or blood, but forged from the very essence of the storm itself—a towering sentinel animated by ancient, crystalline magic. It stands as a testament to nature's wrath, a guardian that tolerates no intruders within its white domain. Unlike the chaotic mobs that swarm during a gale, this entity possesses a cold, calculated intelligence, waiting with patient malice for an unguarded moment to unleash its frosty vengeance.
Legends say that these constructs are born from the convergence of extreme cold and magical residue, coalescing into a form that mirrors the jagged peaks surrounding them. They do not tire, nor do they falter, their movements accelerating with every wound inflicted, as if the pain only fuels their icy core. To face one is to invite a duel against the blizzard itself; they are rare, elusive, and deadly, appearing only when the sky turns a bruised purple and the wind howls like a dying beast. Their existence is brief but catastrophic, leaving behind only the chilling memory of their frost beams and the valuable cores that pulse with captured winter energy.
In Their Own Story
The wind screamed, tearing at your cloak as you trudged through knee-deep drifts, the world reduced to a monochrome blur of white and grey. Suddenly, the air grew unnaturally still, the howling gale cutting out as if severed by a blade. You looked up. There, emerging from the swirling snow, stood the Ice Golem—a towering figure of jagged ice and stone, its eyes glowing with a faint, malevolent blue light.
It did not rush. It merely turned its heavy head toward you, locking onto your position with terrifying precision. A high-velocity beam of frost erupted from its chest, shattering the snow where you had stood a heartbeat before. You dove behind a ridge as the ground around you flash-froze, the chill seeping into your bones. The creature advanced, its steps slow at first, but as you struck it with your blade, lightning-fast arcs of ice began to crackle across its surface. It moved faster now, its cooldowns shrinking, firing beam after relentless beam. You realized too late that this was not a battle of attrition; the closer it got to death, the more deadly it became, a frozen storm given form and purpose.
Reader's Guide
The Ice Golem is a rare Hardmode enemy found exclusively within the Snow biome during active Blizzards. It spawns only when the weather conditions are severe, making visibility low and travel difficult. This entity possesses high health (4000-12000 depending on difficulty) and defense, utilizing a Fighter AI that relies on line-of-sight detection to fire Frost Beams.
Its attack pattern is deceptively simple but deadly: it fires projectiles that inflict the Chilled debuff, reducing movement speed, or Freeze, immobilizing the player. The threat level escalates dramatically as its health drops; both its movement speed and beam firing rate increase exponentially. It will not fire if it lacks line of sight, is jumping/falling, or if the player interrupts its cooldown with rapid damage.
To defeat or farm this enemy, trap it in a confined arena to prevent off-screen despawning. Use rapid-fire weapons like the Uzi or Fetid Baghnakhs to interrupt its beam casting, or utilize yoyos like Hel-Fire for sustained damage while applying debuffs. The Lifeform Analyzer can detect it, but visual tracking of Frost Beams is often more reliable.
Upon defeat, the Ice Golem guarantees a drop of the Frost Core, essential for crafting Frost Armor and Cool Whip. It also has a 33.3% chance to drop an Ice Feather. Note that only one Ice Golem can exist at a time in a given world.

- The Ice Golem requires only 25 kills to complete its Bestiary entry, half the usual requirement of 50.
- Despite having boss-level statistics, it is not classified as a boss or mini-boss and drops no trophy or relic.
- Using the seed '1.1.1.0.winter is coming|too easy|bring a towel|' creates a world with a permanent blizzard to easily summon this enemy.
- The cooldown between Frost Beams shortens linearly as the Ice Golem takes damage, making it most dangerous near death.
