Lore & Background
['Deep within the subterranean veins of Terraria, where the earth is dense and unyielding, dormant magicked spirits awaken from their slumber. These Granite Golems are not merely mindless constructs but sentient guardians born from the very rock that surrounds them. Bestiary entries whisper that they are strong spirits inhabiting granite masses, taking on a humanoid shape to patrol the dark tunnels of the Granite Cave. They move with a deliberate heaviness, their bodies composed of rough-hewn stone blocks held together by ancient, silent magic.', 'The true nature of these creatures is revealed only in moments of conflict. Every few seconds, the spirit retreats into its mineral shell, becoming an impenetrable fortress against any weapon wielded by surface dwellers. During this brief vigilance, they are invulnerable to all harm, a testament to their connection with the unbreakable earth. Yet, even in this state of absolute defense, they remain dangerous; those foolish enough to strike their stone flank will find themselves crushed by its weight, for the Golem does not need to swing to cause devastation.', 'Occasionally, these guardians shed pieces of their own form or reveal hidden treasures within their rocky cores. Rarely do they part with a Night Vision Helmet, an artifact that hints at the darkness they have long endured. More consistently, they leave behind geodes and loose granite blocks, offering a reward to those who can endure the rhythmic dance of attack and retreat. They are the eternal sentinels of the deep, waiting for the tremor of intruders before rising to defend their stony domain.']
In Their Own Story
['The air in the cavern grows thick with dust as you hear it first: a low, guttural grunt echoing off the jagged walls. You turn your torchlight toward the source and see him emerging from the shadows—a massive figure hewn entirely from gray granite, his joints grinding like tectonic plates shifting beneath the surface. He lumbers forward, his stone feet crushing loose pebbles into powder, his presence heavy with an ancient weight.', "You raise your sword, striking true as he approaches. The blade sparks harmlessly against his chest for a moment before you realize the rhythm of his existence. Every few seconds, a low hum fills the air and the Golem's form seems to harden, turning from a target into an immovable wall. He is shielded now, invulnerable to your blows. You hesitate, but the creature does not wait; he steps forward, and you are forced to dodge his massive stone body or risk being crushed by its sheer mass during this state of absolute defense.", "You retreat, waiting for the hum to fade as the five-second cycle completes. The Golem's shield dissolves back into flesh-like stone, leaving him vulnerable once more. You strike again, driving him back with a flurry of blows that chip away at his health. Finally, he crumbles, not into dust, but into a pile of granite blocks and a strange, glowing geode that rolls across the floor. In the silence that follows, you pick up the fallen helmet, a relic of the deep dark, before the cave claims its prize once more."]
Reader's Guide
['The Granite Golem is a formidable pre-Hardmode enemy found exclusively within Granite Caves. These creatures are easily identified by the distinctive grunting sounds they emit, serving as an auditory warning to explorers venturing too deep into the stone tunnels. They possess moderate health and high defense, making them a significant threat to early-game adventurers unprepared for their heavy attacks.', 'Combat mechanics revolve around a strict timing cycle: every five seconds, the Golem shields itself from all damage for two seconds. During this invulnerable window, it cannot be hit but will still deal contact damage if a player collides with it. Striking the Golem reduces its shield cooldown by 0.25 seconds, so aggressive players can shorten the interval between attacks. Note that the Golem must be standing on a surface to activate this defensive state.', 'To farm these enemies efficiently, players can summon them using a Granite Golem Statue connected with wire. This method is ideal for collecting Geodes, which contain valuable gems, and the rare Night Vision Helmet, which sells for a respectable amount of gold coins. While they always drop between five and ten Granite Blocks, the 2% chance for Spaghetti and 5% chance for Geodes make them a worthy target for dedicated resource gathering.']
