Enchanted Sword

A blade of legend waits within stone, ready to unleash radiant beams

The Enchanted Sword is a pre-Hardmode broadsword . When swung, it occasionally fires an Enchanted Beam projectile that cannot pierce enemies or pass through blocks . Both the sword and its projectile produce lingering particles that emit large amounts of light. The Enchanted Sword can be obtained by destroying an "enchanted sword in stone" background object, which can be found in random locations underground and in Enchanted Sword Shrines . Destroying this background object has a 29/30 (96.67%) chance to drop an Enchanted Sword, with the other 1/30 (3.33%) times instead dropping a Terragrim . The Enchanted Sword also has a 1/30 (3.33%) and 1/15 (6.67%) chance to be found in Golden and Titanium Crates respectively. Its best modifier is Legendary . - Enchanted Beam - Internal Item ID : 989 - Internal Projectile ID : 173 - 1 Crafting 1.1 Used in - 2 Used by tools - 3 Notes - 4 Tips - 5 Trivia - 6 History - 7 References

Lore & Background

["Deep beneath the earth's crust, where shadows pool and silence reigns, lies a secret known only to the most patient explorers. It is said that ancient smiths forged a weapon of such pure intent that it became bound to a pedestal of rock, waiting for a worthy hand to claim it. This is the Enchanted Sword, a relic that defies the mundane laws of mining and combat alike. When the stone is shattered, the blade does not merely fall; it awakens, shedding its slumber with a burst of light that pierces the deepest darkness.", "The sword itself hums with a latent energy, capable of projecting beams of pure force that cut through enemies without ever touching them. These arcs of light are not mere projectiles but manifestations of the blade's will, lingering in the air like ethereal ghosts before fading into motes of brilliance. While most weapons require direct contact to strike fear into foes, this artifact strikes from afar, a testament of a magic that transcends simple steel. It is a weapon of duality, both a tool for survival and a key to unlocking even greater arsenals in the hands of those who seek to forge destiny.", 'Rumors speak of false idols mimicking its form, tricking the greedy with empty stone, while true shrines hide in the most remote caverns. To find one is to stumble upon history itself, a moment where the boundary between the physical world and magical legend blurs. Whether pulled from a shrine or fished from the depths of an ocean crate, the Enchanted Sword remains a beacon of hope for early adventurers, promising that even in the pre-hardened world, miracles can be drawn from the earth.']

In Their Own Story

['You descend into the suffocating dark, your torch flickering against walls of cold stone. The air grows thick with anticipation until you see it: a pedestal jutting from the cavern floor, encased in rock like a relic sealed by time itself. Your heart hammers as you approach, knowing that breaking this seal could yield glory or a hollow trick. With a swing of your pickaxe, the stone shatters. A flash of blinding light erupts, and the Enchanted Sword floats free, humming with an otherworldly resonance.', 'You grasp the hilt, feeling its warmth seep into your palm. Immediately, you test its weight in the empty cavern. As you swing, a brilliant beam of azure energy arcs through the darkness, striking a distant wall and leaving behind lingering motes that dance like fireflies. The weapon feels alive, almost eager to hunt. Suddenly, a cave spider skitters from the shadows. You thrust forward without thinking; another beam slices through the creature before it can strike, its light illuminating the gloom with a purity that banishes fear. In this moment, you are no longer just an explorer in the dark, but a wielder of legend, wielding a power that turns the very earth into your ally.']

Reader's Guide

['The Enchanted Sword is a pre-Hardmode broadsword found exclusively underground or within Enchanted Sword Shrines. To acquire it, you must destroy the background object resembling a sword stuck in stone. This action carries a high probability of yielding the weapon itself, though there is a small chance it will drop its lookalike, the Terragrim. If your world lacks these shrines, fishing for Golden or Titanium Crates offers an alternative route, albeit with lower odds.', 'In combat, this weapon excels due to its ability to fire Enchanted Beams that do not require line of sight and emit significant light. These beams have a cooldown of roughly 0.75 seconds, which can be optimized by stacking melee speed modifiers to synchronize swings with the recharge cycle. While powerful for early game exploration, it is eventually outclassed by the Starfury but remains essential as a crafting component for legendary end-game weapons like the Terra Blade and Zenith.', 'When farming, prioritize locating Enchanted Sword Shrines over random underground spawns, as shrines guarantee the presence of the background object. Remember that swords obtained from crates will never have modifiers, so breaking stones is superior for acquiring the Legendary version needed for peak performance. Use the light emitted by both the sword and its beams to navigate dark caves safely while eliminating threats.']
