Lore & Background

In the quiet aftermath of Plantera's defeat, when the jungle's fever breaks and the world breathes a sigh of relief, the Princess finally descends from her hidden chambers. She is not born of war or conquest but of gratitude, a living testament to the hero who tamed the chaos of Hardmode. Unlike other citizens drawn by specific trades or needs, she seeks only connection, wandering until every other soul in the realm has found their place. Her presence marks the true completion of the settlement, a symbol that the land is now safe enough for royalty to reside among commoners without fear.

Her heart beats with an unusual rhythm; she feels no affinity for the cold depths or sun-baked deserts, preferring instead the warmth of community itself. To her, isolation is a cage far more terrifying than any dungeon. She loves all who surround her, finding joy in the mere proximity of the Guide, the Nurse, and even the gruff Cyborg. Yet, she fears the silence of an empty street, her spirit dimming if fewer than two neighbors stand within reach. In her shimmering form, she becomes a ghost of light, a reminder that even royalty can be transformed by the strange magic of the world.

In Their Own Story

You stand before the door, its pink hue glowing softly against the twilight. The air smells of blooming flowers and fresh rain, a stark contrast to the sulfuric fumes of the battle you fought days ago. Inside, she waits. She is smaller than you imagined, her dress a cascade of silk and stars, her tiara catching the lantern light with every nervous shift. You enter, and she turns, her eyes wide with a mixture of shyness and profound relief.

"I really appreciate all the good you've done for this land! Thank you," she whispers, her voice trembling slightly before steadying into a warm cadence. She does not speak of gold or power, but of the Goblins' cuteness and the stars that remind her of glitter on a black dress. As she speaks, you notice the room is crowded; the Cyborg sits stiffly in the corner, the Mechanic fiddles with a wrench nearby. The Princess beams at them all, her happiness radiating like a soft sun. She is not merely an NPC arriving at the end of a quest line; she is the final piece of a mosaic you have spent years building. In this crowded room, surrounded by the survivors of your journey, the world feels whole.

Reader's Guide

To summon the Princess, you must first defeat Plantera to unlock the Cyborg, who is the second-to-last NPC available. Once every other town NPC (excluding Santa Claus and town pets) has moved into a valid house, the Princess will automatically move in if a vacant home exists. She does not require specific biome conditions but thrives on proximity.

Her happiness mechanics are unique: she has no preferred or disliked biomes, nor does she favor specific neighbors. However, she hates being lonely and suffers maximum unhappiness (150%) if fewer than two other NPCs reside within 25 tiles, or if only one is nearby while others are between 25 and 120 tiles away. She loves up to three neighbors and is liked by all.

As a vendor, she sells royal-themed vanity items and furniture. In combat, she defends herself with the Resonance Scepter, dealing 10 damage. Defeating her in Hardmode yields the scepter as a 12.5% drop chance. She represents the final milestone of NPC progression, signaling that your world is fully populated and ready for endgame challenges.
