Party
Confetti rains as the town erupts in a sudden burst of joy
Hmm? Nothing special today... just kidding! It's party time, and then it's after party time! — The Party Girl A Party is an event that can occur randomly, or be activated manually using a Party Center . Parties are mainly visual, having little functional effect on gameplay, with the exception of some exclusive vanity and novelty items available from the Clothier and Party Girl . A Party lasts until dusk (7:30 PM), and if spawned randomly, begins at dawn (4:30 AM). A Party has a random 1/10 (10%) chance (or 1/7 (14.29%) chance in Celebration Mk 10 worlds) of occurring at any particular dawn ("thrown" by one to three NPCs ), without the need for a placed Party Center. See below for the detailed conditions. When NPCs throw a Party, any placed Party Center activates, a burst of confetti appears on each NPC, and a pink status message displays: “ Looks like <NPC name>, <NPC name>, and <NPC name> are throwing a party ” . At its conclusion, the Party automatically deactivates with a puff of smoke on all NPCs and another pink status message: “ Party time's over! ” . A Party can still be reinitiated manually afterward. During a Party, the following effects are active: - All NPCs (including town pets and the Traveling Merchant ) except the Old Man , Skeleton Merchant , Tax Collector , and Zoologist wear Party Hats . NPCs (except for town pets) will also occasionally throw confetti at nearby players. - Balloons continually rise in the background. - Bunnies also wear Party Hats (but drop only normal Bunnies when caught with a Bug Net ). Gem Bunnies that spawn during a Party are replaced with normal Bunnies (with hats). - The Clothier and Party Girl sell additional Party-exclusive novelty and vanity items . - Most NPCs display unique quotes when spoken to. - If the Party had occurred
Lore & Background
In the quiet rhythm of Terraria's world, a sudden shift in the air signals that the mundane has been suspended. It begins not with a roar, but with a whisper: a pink status message drifting across the sky, announcing which neighbors have decided to orchestrate a celebration. Whether triggered by the whimsical hand of fate at dawn or summoned deliberately with a Party Center, this event transforms the familiar town into a kaleidoscope of motion and color. The very atmosphere seems to exhale, releasing balloons that ascend endlessly against the backdrop of a world usually focused on survival and slaying monsters.
During these fleeting hours until dusk, the stoic Merchant, the grumpy Guide, and even the wary Skeletons don festive hats, their usual guarded demeanors replaced by uncharacteristic glee. They speak in riddles and jokes, hinting at explosive games and forgotten victories, while bunnies hop through the streets adorned in paper crowns. It is a rare moment where the threat of the night falls away, replaced by the harmless chaos of confetti slimes and pigronatas that offer gifts rather than danger. The town becomes a stage for a living, breathing festival where the only goal is to witness the joy of those who usually dwell in shadows.
Yet, beneath the glitter lies a subtle magic unique to this world's logic. Even if every inhabitant were to fall in battle, the party would continue its course, a testament to the event's independence from life and death itself. It is a celebration of existence, a reminder that even in a land fraught with peril, there are moments dedicated purely to merriment, where the only thing one must fight is the urge to buy more streamers and the temptation to pop every balloon seen.
In Their Own Story
You wake at dawn to a strange silence, broken only by the soft rustle of paper. A pink message floats in your vision: "Looks like the Guide and the Nurse are throwing a party." Stepping outside, you find the world transformed. The sky is dotted with an endless stream of balloons rising into the clouds, defying gravity and logic alike. Confetti rains down from nowhere, coating the cobblestones in a vibrant dust.
The Guide stands by his door, wearing a paper hat that sits precariously on his head. "What, you think I like parties because I am a kid? Well, you're right," he shouts over the festive noise, tossing a handful of confetti at your feet. Nearby, the Nurse laughs, her usual sternness melted away by the cheer. Even the bunnies hopping through the grass wear tiny hats, their movements jerky and celebratory.
You walk deeper into town, where the Merchant has set up a stall selling not weapons, but silly sunflowers and rainbow glowsticks. The air smells of cake and sugar, a sensory anomaly in this world of dirt and steel. A slime bounces past, its body a swirl of confetti colors, leaving a trail of glitter. For a few precious hours, the monsters do not come, and the only danger is the overwhelming urge to stay forever in this bubble of pink and joy before the sun sets and the world returns to its brutal reality.
Reader's Guide
The Party event is primarily visual but offers unique rewards. It triggers randomly at dawn with a 10% chance (14.29% in Celebration Mk 10 worlds) if the Party Girl is present and at least five eligible town NPCs reside in the world. Alternatively, place a Party Center to force the event immediately. The celebration lasts until dusk (7:30 PM).
During the party, expect harmless novelty enemies like Confetti Slimes, Balloon Slimes, and Pigronatas that drop presents containing exclusive vanity items. Bunnies wear hats but remain catchable as normal bunnies. While there are no combat threats, the event is an opportunity to farm specific loot.
Prepare by ensuring you have ample space for NPC housing, as all NPCs will be present and wearing party hats regardless of location. The best strategy is simply to visit every shop. The Clothier and Party Girl sell exclusive items like the Silly Sunflower set, Bundled Party Balloons, and the Swarm Grenade. Talk to NPCs frequently to hear their unique festive quotes and collect Slice of Cake from the Party Girl. There are no defensive measures needed; focus entirely on exploration and purchasing.
