Taking damage reveals the player and removes the stealth mode bonuses, and it takes another 0.42 seconds to fully engage stealth mode again. Lore & Background
To don this set is to accept the burden of the phantom warrior. While the heavy plating offers formidable defense against physical blows, its true power lies in the art of disappearance. The armor whispers secrets of stealth, allowing the wearer to move unseen through enemy lines without breaking concentration. Yet, this power demands a price; the very act of vanishing slows one's footsteps on solid ground, grounding the flyer in a momentary suspension of physics. It is a gamble between visibility and devastation, a dance where the silent step leads to the loudest explosion.
In Their Own Story
The enemy fired blindly, projectiles passing harmlessly through the space where you had stood moments before. You watched them drift like lost stars, unable to lock onto a ghost. Your heart hammered against the breastplate, not from fear, but from anticipation. The stealth timer ticked down, your stats swelling with the promise of violence. With a sudden burst of will, you broke the silence. You launched forward, no longer a phantom but a projectile of pure kinetic energy. The ranged weapon in your hands roared, tearing through the Storm Diver's hull as the armor's hidden bonuses turned your critical strike into a celestial event.
Reader's Guide
The core of the Vortex playstyle revolves around its unique stealth mechanic, activated by double-tapping down. While cloaked, enemies lose aggro unless you attack or take damage, allowing you to reposition safely. Note that moving or grappling maintains this invisibility, but dashing or mounting breaks it instantly. During stealth, your ranged damage spikes to +80%, but ground movement slows drastically. To mitigate this mobility penalty while maintaining flight freedom, equip wings paired with the Soaring Insignia, which negates the speed reduction during aerial maneuvers.
Did You Know?
- Vortex armor is the only Luminite set without a passive buff, relying entirely on its active stealth mechanic.
- The full set emits a teal light that grows with each piece equipped, but this glow vanishes completely while in stealth mode.
- Stealth mode cannot stack with the Psycho Knife's effect; however, the armor's knockback bonus still applies alongside the knife's melee boost.
