Lore & Background

Forged in the chaotic aftermath of the Martian invasion, this crimson-hued broadsword pulses with residual energy from the alien saucers that scarred the sky. It is not merely a weapon of steel but a conduit for the very technology that once threatened to overwrite our world. When unsheathed, it does not simply cut; it screams with the voice of a dying star, releasing a phantom of blue light that defies the laws of gravity and distance.

The projectile born from its swing is a restless spirit, unable to rest after striking a single foe. It seeks out the nearest heartbeat within a fifteen-tile radius, leaping from body to body with terrifying precision. This relentless pursuit mirrors the frantic nature of the enemies it was designed to slay, turning the battlefield into a dance of blue sparks and teleporting death. Even in the sticky depths of honey, where movement slows to a crawl, this spectral blade finds its rhythm, refusing to be trapped by the viscous embrace of the earth.

Craftsmen who have studied its internal mechanics note that its true power lies not in the swing itself, but in the modifier that binds it. To wield the Influx Waver in its Legendary state is to command a storm of three strikes for every single motion, a feat of martial prowess that bridges the gap between melee and magic. It stands as a testament to humanity's ability to harness the tools of our invaders and turn them into guardians against future darkness.

In Their Own Story

You stand amidst the wreckage of the Martian Madness, the air thick with ozone and the hum of dying machinery. In your hand rests the Influx Waver, its red blade vibrating as if eager to taste blood once more. A cluster of drones hovers nearby, their sensors locking onto your position. You do not hesitate; you swing.

A brilliant arc of blue light erupts from the steel, slicing through the humid air. It strikes the lead drone, exploding into a shower of sparks, but the weapon is not done. The projectile twists in mid-air, vanishing only to reappear instantly on a second target before it can retreat. A third strike follows, a seamless chain of destruction that leaves no enemy untouched. The blue ghost dances around you, a silent guardian that hunts with a mind of its own.

As the last drone crumbles, the projectile fades into nothingness, leaving only the lingering scent of electricity. You feel the weight of the blade lighten, the weapon satisfied by the efficiency of your strike. It is not just a tool; it is an extension of your will, a blue lightning storm that refuses to stop until every threat within reach has been erased from existence.

Reader's Guide

To acquire this legendary broadsword, you must survive the Martian Madness event in Hardmode and defeat the Martian Saucer boss. The Influx Waver drops with a probability of 1/6 (16.67%), making it a rare but consistent reward for prepared adventurers.

This weapon is exclusively designed for Melee builds, boasting 100 base damage and very fast use speed. While its knockback is average at 4.5, its true strength lies in the unique projectile mechanic that hits three times per swing. To maximize damage output, always aim your swings so the initial hit lands near other enemies; the projectile will then automatically teleport to nearby foes within a 15.625-tile radius.

The best modifier for this weapon is Legendary, which significantly boosts damage and knockback without altering the fire rate, as the projectile speed is unaffected by melee speed bonuses. It serves as a crucial crafting component for end-game weapons like the Terra Blade, Meowmere, and Star Wrath. Despite its high velocity of 11, be aware that projectiles will slow drastically in honey, though returning strikes maintain normal speed if they connect with an enemy trapped there.
