Phantasm
Unleash a relentless volley of ghostly projectiles from the void
The Phantasm is a Hardmode , post- Lunatic Cultist bow . When used, it fires a burst of four arrows , consuming one arrow per use. Its fire rate will gradually increase while in use. Upon enemy hits, the Phantasm fires an additional burst of three Phantasm Arrow projectiles. Phantasm Arrows home in on the hit target, move through blocks, deal 30% of the original projectile's damage, and inflict no knockback. The Phantasm has a 2/3 (66.67%) chance of not consuming ammunition . Its best modifier is Unreal . Since it does not benefit from speed modifiers, Godly and Demonic provide the same DPS bonus as Unreal. However, Unreal still has the velocity bonus. - Phantasm - Phantasm Arrow - Internal Item ID : 3540 - Internal Projectile ID : 630, 631 - 1 Crafting 1.1 Recipes - 2 Notes - 3 Tips - 4 Trivia - 5 History - 6 References

Lore & Background
Forged within the swirling chaos of the Vortex Pillar, this bow transcends mere craftsmanship. It is a relic of the invaders who sought to harvest our world, repurposed by those brave enough to wield their own technology against them. The weapon hums with cold energy, requiring no constant ammunition expenditure, as if air condenses into shaft upon its string.
When drawn, it does not merely shoot; it unleashes a calculated storm. Four arrows fly in loose formation before splitting into spectral trackers that seek blood even through stone walls. These phantom bolts do not strike with force but with precision, dealing a fraction of the main volley's might while ignoring the terrain entirely. It is said the bow remembers every target struck, chasing them until they fall or time itself expires.
Warriors who master this artifact learn patience. The first few shots are hesitant, gathering speed and rhythm before reaching a fever pitch of destruction. To stop firing breaks this rhythm, costing precious seconds in battle. Thus, only those with steady hands can truly unleash the Phantasm's full potential, turning a simple volley into an unending rain of death that defies gravity and logic alike. Phantasm Arrow projectiles move at one hundred twenty-three miles per hour, vanishing if their quarry escapes or perishes before the ten-second limit.
In Their Own Story
You draw the string, feeling the hum vibrate through your armor plates. Three seconds pass as the internal mechanism whirs to life, the first volley slow and deliberate against the darkened sky. Then comes the rhythm. Four shafts scream into the void, striking the alien construct before you with lethal intent. Immediately, three ghostly trails erupt from the impact site, weaving through solid rock to find the wound again without hesitation. You do not need to aim further; the weapon decides where death belongs within its own logic.
The fire rate quickens, a mechanical heartbeat syncing perfectly with your pulse. Ammo rarely vanishes from quiver, replaced by spectral energy that mimics the original projectile's flight path. You hold the trigger through the chaos of the Lunar Event, watching health bars drain as homing specters phase through cover to strike exposed flesh. Even when you switch targets, the old phantoms linger for a moment before fading, or they vanish instantly if their prey falls beneath your assault. It is not just a weapon; it is a promise that no enemy can hide from what comes next, even behind the thickest of stone barriers.
Reader's Guide
To craft the Phantasm, you must defeat the Lunatic Cultist and claim victory over the Vortex Pillar during a Lunar Event. Collect eighteen Vortex Fragments to forge this weapon at an Ancient Manipulator found near the pillars.
It is a premier choice for ranged builds seeking maximum single-target damage output against bosses or elite enemies where precision matters most.
The playstyle demands commitment and steady aim. Hold your button continuously to allow the internal mechanism to ramp up; stopping resets the delay, costing valuable DPS during critical moments.
Once fully charged, it fires over three volleys per second, each hit triggering homing Phantasm Arrows that ignore blocks and pursue targets relentlessly until they expire or their target dies.
Pair this bow with Chlorophyte Arrows for crowd control or Ichor Arrows to debuff high-value targets before the Moon Lord appears. After defeating him, switch to Luminite Arrows for superior damage across all scenarios. While it lacks the mobility of the Vortex Beater, its raw damage per second surpasses most alternatives when maintained correctly through continuous firing cycles.
Choose the Unreal modifier for velocity, though Godly and Demonic offer identical damage bonuses since speed does not affect firing rate mechanics.
Did You Know?
- It is the only arrow-consuming weapon with an inherent chance of ammo conservation.
- The Phantasm Arrows can exist for up to ten seconds before disappearing.
- Fire rate ramps up during the first six volleys of continuous fire.
