Last Prism

Six rainbow beams converge into a disintegration ray of ultimate arcane fury

The Last Prism is a Hardmode , post- Moon Lord magic weapon that fires several colored beams of light that converge into one focused beam as it charges, dealing massive damage. It has one of the highest base DPS in the game at the cost of rapidly consuming mana . The Last Prism has a 1/5 (20%) chance of being dropped by the Moon Lord . The Last Prism projects six rainbow-colored beams that deal individual damage as they begin to rotate, then spin faster as they converge into one concentrated beam. This process takes exactly 3.365 seconds, with each beam continuing to deal the weapon's full base damage. The fully-converged beam deals three times the weapon's base damage, or 300 damage per hit. Unlike most piercing attacks, the weapon hits 12 times per second (every 5 game ticks). The mana cost will increase exponentially as the beam converges. Due to its high mana cost (144 mana per second; 12 mana 12 times per second when fully charged), players will struggle to maintain the beam for more than 5–6 seconds. Usage of the Mana Flower , Magic Cuffs , Nebula armor , and a large supply of Super Mana Potions with the Last Prism is recommended. Its best modifier is Mythical or Masterful . The Last Prism is unaffected by attack speed bonuses, meaning that Mythical provides +5% critical strike chance while Masterful lowers the weapon's mana cost. - Last Prism Laser - Last Prism - Internal Item ID : 3541 - Internal Projectile ID : 632, 633 - 1 Notes - 2 Tips - 3 Trivia - 4 History - 5 Footnotes

Lore & Background

Forged from the shattered crystalline heart of the Moon Lord himself, the Last Prism stands as the zenith of magical destruction. It is not merely a weapon but a contained supernova, born when the stars above Terraria finally tore themselves apart in their final confrontation with the cosmic horror. The six distinct beams that spiral within its core represent the fragmented light of a dying world, waiting to be unified into a single instrument of absolute erasure. To wield it is to invite the very concept of entropy into one's hands, for the prism demands a titanic toll of mana to sustain its convergence, burning through reserves with terrifying speed.

Legends speak of mages who held the beam long enough to pierce the veil between dimensions, only to find their own life force flickering alongside the weapon's charge. The artifact does not care for the user's survival, caring only for the efficiency of disintegration. As the rainbow arcs tighten into a monochromatic lance, time seems to slow, and the air itself vibrates with the sound of phaseblades humming in unison. It is said that those who name themselves after the ancient architects of this world may see their true colors reflected within the prism's chaotic spectrum, hinting at a connection between the creator and the created that transcends mere combat.

In Their Own Story

You stand before the shattered remains of the Moon Lord, the air thick with residual stardust. In your hand, the Last Prism hums with a low, dissonant vibration that rattles your teeth. You raise it high, and six distinct ribbons of light—crimson, azure, emerald, violet, gold, and white—unspool from the crystal core. They dance in a chaotic spiral, their colors shifting like oil on water as they rotate around you. Slowly, imperceptibly at first, then with gathering urgency, the beams begin to tighten. The rotation accelerates into a blur, the distinct hues bleeding together until only a blinding, focused lance of pure force remains.

The mana drains from your veins like blood from an open wound, a burning sensation that demands you stop, yet the convergence is too complete to break now. With a thought, you unleash the beam upon the target dummy standing in the distance. There is no sound of impact, only the sudden absence of matter as the disintegration ray slices through reality. Twelve times per second, the beam pulses with lethal precision, stripping away pixels and existence alike. You feel the weight of your exhaustion mounting, the 144 units of mana vanishing every second, but for these precious few seconds, you are the architect of oblivion, holding the last light of a dead star in your trembling grip.

Reader's Guide

The Last Prism is a Hardmode magic weapon dropped by the Moon Lord with a 20% chance. It cannot be crafted and serves as the ultimate post-Moon Lord offensive tool for dedicated magic users seeking maximum single-target damage.

To maximize its potential, you must manage its exponential mana cost. The beam starts weak but deals triple base damage once fully converged after 3.365 seconds. Use Mana Potions combined with a Mana Flower or Magic Cuffs to sustain the charge. However, be wary of Mana Sickness; aim for a total mana reduction of roughly 41-46% using accessories like the Chlorophyte Headgear and Dark Artist's Robes to keep costs below the threshold where damage penalties apply.

For infinite duration setups without Mana Sickness, construct an arena with enemy statues and use minions or lava to kill them continuously. Collecting mana stars dropped by these enemies allows you to fire the beam indefinitely. The Nebula armor set is essential for boosting damage and providing healing via its set bonus, though be aware that the rapid hit rate may sometimes interfere with lifesteal orbs from the Spectre Hood.
