Guide:Bases

Forge a sanctuary where stone meets soul and danger sleeps outside

A base can be defined as a place to station your Bedroom , some NPCs , and your storage and crafting systems. These can be built as extravagant or as basic as you see fit as long as it passes the minimum requirements for a House . At the start of the game, it is recommended to build your base near your world spawn point, as you will have less danger getting to your NPCs . Once you set up a Bed or a Pylon system , you may place your spawn point in a more desirable location for your base. - Issues: Most likely outdated since 1.4 . Lore & Background

Yet this sanctuary is not without peril. The very ground beneath may whisper with the presence of the Crimson or Corruption, demanding vigilance in construction to keep the darkness at bay. Every room must be a sealed vessel against the void, with windows of glass rather than gaping holes that invite monsters within. From the quiet hum of the crafting bench to the strategic placement of lava pits guarding the perimeter, the base evolves from a simple dugout into a fortress of light, ready to launch its defenders into the abyss or retreat for healing when the night grows too long.

In Their Own Story

Moving deeper into the complex, you pass rows of chests humming with potential, their contents organized by your own hand to defeat the confusion of endless loot. The crafting area buzzes with the clatter of anvil and furnace, where the Guide stands ready to reveal the secrets of item creation. Outside, a moat of bubbling lava hisses, turning the approach into a gauntlet for any enemy foolish enough to breach your defenses. You pause at a glass window, watching the moon rise over a world you have tamed, knowing that as long as these walls stand, no darkness can truly claim you.

Reader's Guide

Begin your journey by establishing a base near the world spawn, minimizing travel danger while gathering resources for basic housing. Construct rooms meeting strict criteria: solid frames, valid background walls, and sizes between 60 and 750 tiles to ensure NPCs will move in. Place a bed immediately to secure your respawn point, ideally sharing space with the Nurse or Dryad for rapid healing during boss fights.

As you progress, expand your base into specialized zones. Create a dedicated crafting area housing essential stations like the Work Bench, Anvil, and Tinkerer's Workshop, keeping the Guide nearby for recipe access. Organize storage systems to manage growing loot volumes, separating potions from materials. Once comfortable, utilize Pylons or beds to relocate your spawn point to more strategic biomes.

Endgame bases should incorporate robust defense mechanisms. Install lava pits or mechanical traps to deter enemies from reaching NPC quarters, ensuring no Corruption blocks exist within 250 tiles of the structure. Build outposts in dangerous biomes like the Jungle or Underworld for resource gathering, and ensure all windows use Glass Walls to prevent enemy spawns inside your sanctuary.
